Staff Recognition

The following awards recognize staff members for their exemplary service to the university and community.

Student Affairs Staff — Service to University and Community Award

Purpose of Award

To recognize staff for extraordinary service to the university and/or community.

Eligibility

All staff members (full- or part-time) who are currently employed within the division of Student Affairs at Buffalo State. Previous recipients will not be eligible.

Selection

Evaluation of nominees will be made based on demonstration of the following criteria for extraordinary service:

  • Service that is in addition to duties of the position.
  • Direct service to identifiable college constituencies OR service to the external community, rendered on the college’s behalf to establish mutually beneficial partnerships and meet a community need.
  • Beneficial impact evident to the campus community.

Nominations will be reviewed by the established awards committee comprised of Student Affairs professionals. If the committee believes that none of the nominees meets the criteria for the award, the committee may recommend that no award be presented. Conversely, if the committee believes more than one nominee is worthy, multiple awards may be presented.

 

Student Affairs Staff — Service to Students Award

Purpose of Award

To recognize staff for extraordinary service to the students.

Eligibility

All staff members (full- or part-time) who are currently employed within the division of Student Affairs at Buffalo State. Previous recipients will not be eligible.

Selection

Evaluation of nominees will be made based on demonstration of some combination of the following criteria for extraordinary service:

  • Commitment to providing a positive experience students.
  • Demonstration of consistently putting the student first in the guest service model.
  • Commitment to the development of quality programs and/or activities that contribute to personal and academic development of the student and/or the college experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student persistence when they are encountering barriers to graduation.

Nominations will be reviewed by the established awards committee comprised of Student Affairs professionals. If the committee believes that none of the nominees meets the criteria for the award, the committee may recommend that no award be presented. Conversely, if the committee believes more than one nominee is worthy, multiple awards may be presented.

 

Student Affairs Staff — Caring Colleague Award

Purpose of Award

To recognize staff for providing support to colleagues at the College.

Eligibility

All staff members (full- or part-time) who are currently employed within the division of Student Affairs at Buffalo State. Previous recipients will not be eligible.

Selection

Evaluation of nominees will be made based on demonstration of the following criteria for extraordinary service:

  • Service that is in addition to duties of the position, directly assisting a campus and/or community colleague.
  • Demonstrated commitment to "being there" for colleagues when they encounter personal or professional problems.
  • Beneficial impact evident to the campus community.

Nominations will be reviewed by the established awards committee comprised of Student Affairs professionals. If the committee believes that none of the nominees meets the criteria for the award, the committee may recommend that no award be presented. Conversely, if the committee believes more than one nominee is worthy, multiple awards may be presented.

 

Outstanding Student Affairs Campus Partner Award

Purpose of Award

The Campus Partner Award recognizes a faculty or staff member, or department—not a part of Student Affairs—who has been an outstanding partner with Student Affairs on a significant initiative or program to improve the Buffalo State experience for students.

Eligibility

All staff members and departments (full- or part-time) who are currently employed outside the Student Affairs Division at Buffalo State. Previous recipients will not be eligible.

Selection

Evaluation of nominees will be made based on demonstration of the following criteria for extraordinary service:

  • How the collaboration met at least one of the three College goals; Educate, Engage, or Demonstrate.
  • How the nominee has gone beyond their regular responsibilities.
  • Description of current program and how the nominee has made a positive impact.
  • Description of the beneficial impact evident to the campus community.

Nominations will be reviewed by the established awards committee comprised of Student Affairs professionals. If the committee believes that none of the nominees meets the criteria for the award, the committee may recommend that no award be presented. Conversely, if the committee believes more than one nominee is worthy, multiple awards may be presented.

How To Nominate

  • A nomination letter detailing how the nominee’s extraordinary service meets the criteria for this award.
  • Nomination letter should be submitted through Qualtrics here, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024. 
  • If you're submitting more than one nomination, please submit another Qualtrics form.
