Kwibuka25: Remember. Unite. Rebuild.

The Anne Frank Project is partnering with Buffalo's Rwandan and East African communities to host a local Kwibuka. Kwibuka is an international commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, held at designated conferences and embassies around the world.

We invite the public to attend Kwibuka25. Please plan to attend the entire event out of respect for the victims and survivors.

The program includes:

  • Candle lighting and survivor testimony
  • Speakers from the Rwandan Embassy and local Rwandan community
  • Katherine Conway-Turner, president of Buffalo State College
  • Representative of the Honorable Mayor Byron Brown, mayor of Buffalo
  • Drew Kahn, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor and founding director of AFP
  • Buffalo State alumni and AFP Rwanda delegate reflections
